The WBL cow herd traces its foundation to two of the most influential cow families in the program’s history—Bands Sarita and the renowned Erica Dianna family. These cornerstone bloodlines were established through two exceptional females, Wulffs Bands Sarita B708 and Wulffs Erica Dianna C116, whose genetic influence continues to shape the WBL herd today.
Among these influential females, C116 stands as one of the most remarkable cows ever produced by WBL. Widely regarded as the greatest daughter of Tehama Band 155, and considered by many to be one of the finest females the operation has ever raised, C116 consistently transmitted elite genetics, structural integrity, and maternal excellence. Her descendants have produced sale-topping cattle, performance test champions, show-ring winners, and productive herd sires and females that continue to elevate programs across the industry.
Perhaps C116's most recognized son is Wulffs EXT 6106, the legendary Genex calving-ease specialist. In recent years, 6106 has experienced renewed appreciation among breeders because of his ability to consistently sire cattle with exceptional structural correctness, superior feet and leg quality, and long-term durability. His daughters, in particular, are known for their maternal value, soundness, and ability to remain productive for many years.
The true measure of genetic quality is longevity, and few bloodlines demonstrate that better than the Erica Dianna family. A testament to the lasting value of these genetics is Wulffs Erica Dianna 9307, a full sibling to 6106 that remains in production at 14 years of age. Her continued productivity exemplifies the WBL breeding philosophy: cattle built with the structural soundness, fertility, efficiency, and durability necessary to remain profitable and productive throughout their lifetime.
